Annie Mar

Annie is an illustrator and multi-disciplinary artist focused on capturing the magic and mundanities of daily life. Her drawings are fed by current social and political climates in Ireland, as well as nature and interconnectivity between peoples, landscapes and creatures. She uses drawing, painting, digital illustration and video to tell her stories.

Annie works alongside animator Aaron Ross to create short videos with an ecological focus. They are currently wokring in partnership with the Irish Parks and Wildlife Committee on a series of videos and infographics about the significance of peatlands in the fight against climate change. Other clients include WWF, where they initiated and sustain the Untangled video series, the INCASE Project, the Department of Agriculture and The Irish Water Forum.

Annie also leads illustration and visual diary workshops and creates tutorials and activities for young people. She works closely with the Crawford Art Gallery, making their exhibitions more accessible to their younger visitors.

Annie has just finished up as Artist in Residence with Cork Midsummer Festival, where she undertook a Creative Enquiry with the Traveller Community in collaboration with her mother and fellow artist Julie Forrester. Together they facilitated workshops and shared experiences with Traveller families.
