Illustrated, as advertised is the first solo exhibition by Steve Simpson, winner of the 2011 ’Revolution’ Illustration at Fire Competition. This Illustration at Fire Competition marks the second disbursement from the Fire €150,000 Arts Fund.
This exhibition showcases a selection of recently commissioned and self initiated projects, from a career that spans over two decades. The eclectic mix of images are united by Steve Simpson’s vintage colour palette and inimitable sense of design.
Steve Simpson has created award winning illustration for high-profile advertising and design companies on a national and international scale. His idiosyncratic characters have appeared on everything from postage stamps to billboards, snack packaging to chilli bottles.
On the judging panel for the ‘Revolution’ Illustration at Fire Competition were Art Director at Ogilvy & Mather Laurence O’Byrne, The Small Print’s Bren Byrne and The Copper House Gallery Curator Leszek Wolnik.
The winning image was All the Signs of the Revolution by Steve Simpson.
Illustrated, as advertised runs at The Copper House Gallery from 7th March until 28th March 2012. Admission is free and all are welcome.
