EP Jacobs Talk and Exhibition

There will be a talkon the late, great Belgian Graphic Novelist EP Jacobs on Wednesday 16 March 2005 at 8pm given by Viviane Quittelier (grand-daugther of EP Jacobs) on his life and work (the talk will be given in French but should easy enough to follow, especially for those whose profession is illustrator).

The talk will open an exhibition of approximately 20 original drawings from the series Blake & Mortimer that runs from 16 March until 5 April 2005, in Alliance Francaise, 1 Kildare St, Dublin 2.

Illustrators Ireland Awards 2004

On December 10th, 2004, the IGI Illustratorsireland.com Awards was held in the United Arts Club in Dublin’s City Centre. For the third year, the results have revealed a set of winners that has surprised all. All the category winners have been taken from the ‘natural media’ end of the illustration scale; with very little digital work gaining winning amounts of points from the distinguished panel of judges.

The ceremony was preceded by a lecture from Brian Grimwood, English Illustrator of international acclaim and co-founder of the CIA (Central Illustration Agency) in London. View the winning entries…

Illustrators Ireland Awards 2003

The winners of the second IGI Illustration Awards were announced at a ceremony in the Life Bar on Wednesday 5th November. Presented by RTE’s Rattlebag presenter, Myles Dungan, the results both surprised and delighted a full house. This year, the Awards were broken down into five categories, plus an ‘Illustration of the Year’ trophy, for the category winner who had accumulated the highest number of points.

We think that our event is unique in Ireland in that our panel of judges is comprised exclusively of art directors, designers and publishers from outside of Ireland. Specifically the UK and USA. This is not only with a view to impartiality. It also means that we can set our work against international standards and see how we fare! view winners…

Illustrators Ireland Awards 2002

The Illustrators Guild of Ireland is proud to announce the first ever Illustratorsireland.com Awards. With the introduction of these annual awards, the IGI aims to build the community of Irish illustrators while at the same time raising awareness of Irish illustration talent amongst prospective users both at home and abroad.

The 1st Annual Illustratorsireland.com Awards 2002 presentation ceremony took place on the 24th October 2002. All winning entries will be exhibited in the atrium of the Dublin Civic Offices on Wood Quay throughout Design Week (November 4th -8th). Additionally, all work will be showcased on the IGI web site: www.illustratorsireland.com until April 2003.

Illustration Ireland: The Art of Contemporary Illumination

The Illustrators Guild of Ireland is proud to announce the first group exhibition of the work of the IGI membership.

Illustration Ireland: The Art of Contemporary Illumination An exhibition at the Chester Beatty Library, Dublin Castle. The exhibition places the work of contemporary Irish illustrators in context with society today. Examples of work on display will include illustration from publishing, editorial, advertising and childrens books. The exhibition will include displays of artists, sketchbooks and materials, featuring artwork produced using traditional methods as well as newer digital techniques.
