The 1st Annual Illustratorsireland.com Awards 2002 presentation ceremony took place on the 24th October 2002. The Illustrators Guild of Ireland (IGI) is a non-profit organisation established by professional illustrators to support the development of Irish illustration, at home and abroad. The IGI membership currently includes such well-known artists as Martyn Turner, David Rooney, Peter Hanan and PJ Lynch, as well as many members with international reputations from across the full spectrum of illustration categories.
With the introduction of these annual awards, the IGI aims to build the community of Irish illustrators while at the same time raising awareness of Irish illustration talent amongst prospective users both at home and abroad.

About the Awards
The IGI has led the way in promoting the use of good business practice among members and clients generally. We have introduced comprehensive job estimate/contract forms that have gone a long way towards creating an equitable relationship between illustrator and commissioner. We continue to research and develop new markets and areas in which members work can apply and we constantly promote members talent through our website and ongoing promotion.
Uniquely, for such award events, all artwork will be judged online by an international panel of distinguished and independent judges, including:
Brad Holland - Illustrator ( US) Brad has been awarded gold medals from the Art Director’s Club of New York and the Society of Illustrators. “The undisputed star of American Illustration” The Washington Post.
Morgan O’Connell - Art Director, G2 ( US) Having worked in London,
Amsterdam, New York, Tokyo, Morgan has been an integral part of building brands
such as American Express, Ericsson, IBM, SAP, Sony and Motorola to name but a few.
Elizabeth B. Parisi - Art Director, ScholasticBooks (US) Art Director with Scholastics Books in the United States, Elizabeth has juried competitions for the Society of Illustrators and Communication Arts as well as winning two medals for art direction herself from the Society of Illustrators.
Angus Hyland - Partner, Pentagram (UK) As well as producing award-winning work for a wide variety of clients, he was the editor of the Laurence King book ‘Pen & Mouse - Commercial Art and Digital Illustration’.
Caroline Roberts - Editor, Graphics International (UK) Caroline has been writing for Graphics International for the past four years and took over as editor in May 2001. She is a member of the International Society of Typographic Designers and was involved in the organisation of the International TypoGraphic Awards 2001.
There will be an Irish based independent adjudicator and recipient of the judges nominees.
The Awards will be presented at a function on the evening of 24th October, 2002 at the Life Bar, Irish Life Centre, Dublin 1.
All winning entries will be exhibited in the atrium of the Dublin Civic Offices on Wood Quay throughout Design Week (November 4th -8th). Additionally, all work will be showcased on the IGI web site: www.illustratorsireland.com until April 2003.
