We’re having what is the first of many (or at least a few) shows in a few weeks time. This one is called Drawers. It’s a co-production between the IGI and the people at South Studios - a small visual arts business complex based in Dublin. The show features 14 IGI members and the rest are designers, photographers, architects and a fashion stylist.
The idea behind the show is that everyone receives a small chest of drawers which they then customise/paint/whatever way they choose. The illustrators will be working differently from the other contributors in that they will create their pieces ON THE DAY. They will arrive at South Studios on the morning of Friday 26th and begin work (although a little preliminary outline work is acceptable). So it’ll be an exercise in what can be achieved in a short time, as well as being a fun day. All chests will then be exhibited in the same large studio space they worked in (a total of 25 chests will be created) and we’ll have a party with a DJ from 7 till 11pm, when it’s time to take the party to the pub. I managed to get some free beer from Heineken today, so get along before they’re all gone!
