The Illustrators Guild of Ireland is proud to announce the first group exhibition of the work of the IGI membership.
Illustration Ireland: The Art of Contemporary Illumination An exhibition at the Chester Beatty Library, Dublin Castle (European Museum of the Year 2002) Exhibition opening: 5.15pm, Weds 6th November 2002 Open to public: Thurs 7th November Exhibition runs until January 5th 2003.
The exhibition places the work of contemporary Irish illustrators in context with society today. Examples of work on display will include illustration from publishing, editorial, advertising and childrens books. The exhibition will include displays of artists, sketchbooks and materials, featuring artwork produced using traditional methods as well as newer digital techniques. The exhibition will be opened at an invitation-only reception, at 5.15pm on Wednesday 6th November 2002.
The reception will be followed by a lecture given by award-winning UK illustrator Paul Slater, as part of Design Week (ticket queries to info@illustratorsireland.com) The Illustrators Guild of Ireland (IGI) is a non-profit organisation established by professional illustrators to support the development of Irish illustration, at home and abroad. The IGI membership currently includes such well-known artists as Martyn Turner, David Rooney, Peter Hanan and PJ Lynch, as well as many members with international reputations from across the full spectrum of illustration categories.
