Kevin McSherry Dublin Exhibition

May 15 2007

Ever wondered where those pithy illustrations in your newspapers come from? Artist and illustrator Kevin McSherry is holding an exhibition in the the Alliance Française in Kildare Street, Dublin. The show, held in the recently refurbished ground floor Café des Amis, runs until 11th June, 2007.

The exhibition shows examples of his editorial work published in leading journals and magazines, such as the Wall Street Journal, The Irish Times, Magill and Marketing Magazine. The work provides insight into the way unique commissioned art is used in our best journals - the process of collaboration between editor or designer and illustrator that generates imagery with the power to engage and persuade.

This show is of particular interest to those working in the design publishing and marketing world, where the search is always on for a powerful way to communicate messages. Pete Hausler, Art Director in the Wall Street Journal commented, ‘Kevin’s rich palette and traditional technique belies his sly sense of humor and the mischievous glint in his painter’s eye’ and Denis Goodbody of Adept Advertising said ‘Kevin McSherry’s technique for illustration involves stretching the viewer’s imagination until it’s wide enough to fit the new ideas or concepts from the article or essay his work is supporting.’
