Write and Illustrate Course

This Picture Book Writing & Illustration course is a ‘relaxed’ course,  suitable for aspiring, beginner or emerging children’s writers, and those with a love of children’s literature, and enthusiasm to learn more.

Some basic drawing skills and ability with at least one colour medium is required.

New Picture Book Course

Adrienne Geoghegan will be working with Independent College this year to present a course all about picture book writing and illustrating.

Running for twelve weeks from October to December it is divided into writing and illustrating or you can opt to do both parts.

Gold & Bronze for Ireland

Steve Simpson and Chris Haughton win awards at the Images 32 awards recently in London.

Steve Simpson walked away with The Gold Award in the Design and New Media category for his illustration work for gourmet pie outlet Pure Pie. Chris Haughton won a Bronze in the Advertising Section

McHugh meets the Queen

IGI member Jonathan McHugh was recently asked to contribute a number of illustrations for inclusion in a hardback coffee table book to mark the 400th anniversary of the founding of the Royal Schools in Ireland in 1608. 

The five Royal Schools - in Donegal, Cavan, Armagh, Tyrone and Fermanagh - all worked together to produce the book to mark the occasion and to focus on their long histories.
