The inspiration for my work comes from many places and eras. So stylistically, it’s quite broad: from dark and gritty realism typical of my old news editorial commissions; dramatic colour-rich graphic-novel style work; to a more lighthearted, softer colour-saturated world typical of children’s picture books; and simple iconic/graphical images you might find on your iPad. Whether I render within the computer or on paper – it starts, on paper. Lately, I’m a big enthusiast for picture books and after a 25 year break I’m beginning to re-appreciate the comic book.
