Caitriona Sweeney

I am an illustrator from Dublin who spent most of my summers roaming around my Grandad’s farm in the west of Ireland. This probably instilled in me an interest (obsession!) with the weather, the direction of the wind, nature and the cycle of seasons and how we connect and interact with these. They suggest the ideas and give the colours to my illustrations. I like to capture the small, quiet moments of daily life.
Along the way, I got a degree in Printed Textiles from NCAD and a Higher National Diploma in Classical Animation from Ballyfermot College of Further Education. I’ve drawn backgrounds for children’s cartoon series (that were aired on BBC, TG4 and Nickelodeon), painted murals in public spaces, illustrated a children’s book, taught painting, and exhibited my illustrations in galleries around the country. I also sell prints of my work on my small on-line shop.
Feel free to get in touch – and I’ll try not to mention the weather!
