Debbie Jenkinson

trained as a classical animator in Ballyfermot, leaving in 1998 for the USA where she worked for four years as a background and character designer. She directed two short animated films, one funded by the Irish Film Board. Since her return in 2004, she has provided illustrations for Barnstorm Theatre Company, the Irish Daily Mail and Scoilnet, among others. She took part in a Graphic Novel residency in Florida in 2010, and since then has been self-publishing comics, too. These include Remorse, listed as runner-up on Comicosity’s Best of 2015, The Yellow Planet and others. She’s co-founder of The Comics Lab, a meet-up that explores sequential story-telling, and delivers the Graphic Short Prize in partnership with The Irish Times. The lab runs alongside DCAF, a quarterly small press fair. She’s a member of Stray Lines Comics Collective and a Board Member here at Illustrators Ireland.
