Jordan Barry-Browne

I currently live in Dublin. I work as a freelance illustrator and I am an independent comic book creator. The comic book series I am currently working on is called ‘Cosmic Slop’, which I self publish under my imprint ‘ILLstrips’. The premise of the story is set around the rediscovery and rejuvenation of Hip Hop culture in an alien future. My work is generally inspired by European and American comics, Hip Hop culture, and B-Movies. I also produce T-shirts, stickers and prints along side my comic book work.

Prior to my years active as an illustrator I studied animation for three years at Ballyfermot college for Further Education. I moved to New York in 2017 where I worked at a creative advertisement agency based in Brooklyn called ‘Big Spaceship’. Here I worked on storyboards for some of their top clients such as Starbucks, Hasbro and Google Play.

Even though it has been a turbulent past few months for the world it allowed me a lot of extra creative time to get busy. I got the opportunity to work with Red Bull music, Choice Cuts, Paladin and Dark One (Rap duo from Amsterdam), Brick Bear Clothing, Strangers Fanzine (American comics magazine), and B-Boy Document (English Hip Hop magazine). I’m excited to see what’s on the cards in 2021 and I’m happy to be a new member of Illustrators Ireland.
