Shannon is an Irish illustrator, avid doodler, and tea drinker.
Originally from Birr Co. Offaly, she graduated from Limerick School of Art and Design with a BA(Hons) in Animation and Motion Design.
Drawing on inspiration from traditional printmaking, cubism and mid-century illustration she incorporates, defined flat shapes, expressive traditional texture and a focus on compelling colour palettes to create her illustrative work that explores emotion over physical accuracy. Her work focuses on the realm between the real and the imaginary in an attempt to tell a story that exists in the magic within the mundane.
Her work has been exhibited throughout Ireland and the United States and has won several awards for her illustrative pieces. She has worked on numerous solo and group exhibitions and has been selected for permanent collections in both the Hunt Museum and LIT. Her debut illustrated book, written by Siobhan Parkinson and published by Little Island Books was shortlisted for the 2021 Irish Book Awards.
Between books, editorial work, personal commissions and licensing art for greeting cards and puzzles, she enjoys working on her own products, personal artwork and writing a little too.
When she isn’t making art, she can be found befriending neighbourhood dogs, planting something in her garden or under a pile of cozy blankets with a good book.
